Christian Zionism

The Verdict of AD 70 Makes Christian Zionism Especially Irrational and Evil

When Zionism (the concept that the Jewish people have an unconditional right to a homeland in the land formerly known as Canaan) is taught as an aspect of Christianity, it might be called Christian Zionism.  Christian Zionism practically teaches that God changed His mind about the Jewish nation after He rejected it in AD 70 by causing the Second Temple to be destroyed.

After the First Temple had been destroyed by the Babylonians, and the Second Temple had been rebuilt in Jerusalem after the Jewish captivity in Babylon returned, the Messiah eventually came to it (as was foretold in Malachi chapter 3 and Haggai chapter 2).  The Jewish nation did not receive Him and eventually had Him crucified.  Jerusalem and its Temple were destroyed 40 years later in AD 70 as a testimony of the Jewish nation’s rejection by God.

The verdict set down by Jesus is that unless the Jews as a people welcome Him as their Messiah, Jerusalem and the Jewish nation will continue to be rejected.

Matthew 23:33-39: “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?  Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.  Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!  Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.  For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

To call the Jews God’s chosen people still, and to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as if it is still God’s city like it had been before when the Temple stood there, is not heeding the verdict of AD 70 laid down by God.  Not heeding this verdict is essentially justifying the Jews in their rejection of Jesus Christ.

To go against this verdict is like contending against the verdict regarding Cain being banned from the presence of the Lord and sent to dwell in the Land of Nod as a fugitive and a vagabond for his murder of Abel.

Not heeding the verdict set down in AD 70 is in itself enough to make Zionism irrational and evil- much more so when Zionism is given a Christian label and promoted in the name of Jesus Christ whom the Zionist Jews are so blatantly at enmity with.

Christians who support modern Israel are in sin and need to repent because they are opposed to the King whom they profess to serve by siding with His enemies in seeking to overthrow the verdict of AD 70; and in contending with the statements made in the Bible in relation to that judgment.
