PATIENCE

No One Can be Saved Without Patience in Doing Right in God’s Eyes

The many Bible truths related to patience in doing right before God and the many examples of spiritual failure and destruction due to lack of patience in this are proof of the probationary state of the Christian.  The instructions to the Hebrew Christians in Hebrews 6:7-15, Hebrews 12:1-2, and many other plain Bible statements such as Revelation 1:9 say this directly.  Many Christians (and I mean ones who genuinely got born-again and entered the narrow way to life in Jesus Christ) fall away from Him and don’t endure to the end of the narrow way to life due to lack of patience in doing right in God’s eyes (as is clearly implied in Scriptures such as Proverbs 23:17-18, Luke 8:12-15, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, and Hebrews 12:11-17).

Many who say that they are not Calvinist are nevertheless tainted with the Calvinistic concept that there is no free will after conversion to Christ.  Those who think like this cannot pass the test because they do not adequately recognize the test.  They are thus ill prepared to patiently endure as Christ’s disciples who remain bound to His righteous ways in order to overcome in their probationary trial and be saved.

Revelation 13:16-17: “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save (or, except) he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

(Now consider with the preceding passage) Revelation 14:9-12: “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

The nature of the conflict is the same now.  It has always been so, it has not changed, and it will not change.  And yes, Christ’s people will be on earth at the very end of this age.  Those who claim that Christ’s church is never seen on earth during the tribulation period in Revelation are wrong.

Don’t be patient when it comes to putting away sin in your life.

The Bible rather commands us to seek the Lord while He may be found, to flee from the wrath to come by forsaking all one’s wicked ways in turning to Him, and it insists that we bring forth fruits worthy of repentance.  It speaks of His wrath upon those who don’t do so and upon those who go back from doing so.
