The Large Crack in the Foundation of Zionism

Those who support modern Israel can sound convincing in their arguments that the modern Jews are the rightful owners of the land that is called Israel.  If they cite evil done by the Arabs, terrorism which has arisen among them, and evil viewpoints commonly held among them, you can’t respond by accurately saying that such things are just fiction.  If they cite foolish decisions by Arab leaders in the past, and in more modern times as well, as factors which have increased the misery of the common Palestinian, they’ve got a point.  Yet none of this proves that the modern Jews are the rightful inhabitants of the land of Israel (which is a large portion of the land formerly known as Canaan).  Putting aside the coercion and overall corruption of the Balfour Declaration, and the dubiousness regarding whether it would have any legal binding at all even if these things were not taken into account, those who support Zionism must resort to the argument which says that God gave the land to the ethnic Jews by birthright.  If this chief foundation stone in the Zionist’s ideology is faulty, then the modern Jews are thieves who have never had any good basis to claim that they have any right to the land inhabited by the Arab Palestinians.

Let’s look at a real life illustration: If a family dwelt in a home which was granted them to dwell in through the generosity of the home’s owner, then if the right to dwell in that home was not unconditional or the conditions for dwelling in the home were not met, then that family would have no right to claim that the owner had given them that home to them to dwell in if they did not meet the owner’s condition for dwelling there, and no basis to fight others for its possession without striving against the owner and incurring much sin in the fight.   The family’s prevailing in such a fight would only be theft and assault since it is wrong to fight another family for a home which the former family had already been evicted from and not given permission from the owner to return to.  Citing bad behavior and foolish decisions among some of the members of the family of the subsequent inhabitants would not make the family nor those supporting them any less guilty.

Every Zionist will say that the Jews did not steal the land from the Palestinians- and virtually every Zionist will say that stealing the land from them would be impossible since (they claim) God gave the land of Israel to the ethnic Jews.  You can watch thousands of hours of videos and read thousands of books about the Arab-Jewish conflict, but if this particular claim is disproven, Zionism crumbles and the modern Jews are thieves and oppressors- period.

We’ve done messages showing from Old Testament prophecies that Jesus Christ is the Jewish Messiah and have even got into refuting Jewish opposition to Jesus’ claim to be the Jewish Messiah.  Yet since I am speaking primarily to professing Christians right now who know that they surely couldn’t even be Christians if they dispute this claim, then we’ll not deal with these things again in His message.  If you say that He is the Messiah, you must obey His Word for your profession to not be vain.  And you surely are not obeying His Word if you don’t even receive what He plainly said.

Jesus said the Jewish nation overall rejected and hated Him.

John 7:7: “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.”

Though this applies to the world as a whole, it especially applies to the Jewish since Jesus only preached in Israel, and the context of this verse is speaking about Him going up to a Jewish feast at Jerusalem.

John 1:9-11: “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”

Rejection of Jesus Christ is rejecting the Father.

John 15:23: “He that hateth me hateth my Father also.”

John 12:44-50: “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.  And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.  For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”

John 5:37-47: “And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.  And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.  I receive not honor from men.  But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.  I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.  How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?  Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.  For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.  But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?”

Did God say and obviously imply right in the Jewish Scriptures then that ethnic Jews receiving the promised land is conditioned on their obedience to Him?  He indeed did!

Leviticus 18:26-28: “ Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.”

Ezekiel 33:23-26: “Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.  Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?  Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbor’s wife: and shall ye possess the land?”

So much for an unconditional birthright of the natural Jews to inherit the land!

Deuteronomy 30:15-20: “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.  But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Malachi 4:4-6: “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.  Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet (whom John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of- Luke 1:17) before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers (the faith of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”

Did Jesus rebuke the natural Israelites for not walking in the faith of Abraham and not having His Word abiding in them?  He indeed did!

John 8:34-42: “ Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.  I know that ye are Abraham’s (natural) seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.  I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.  They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.  Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.  But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.  Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.  Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.”

Did Jesus even say that the land would be taken away from the natural Jews for their rejection of Him (stemming from their lack of repentance and demonstrated by their lack of fruit fitting for repentance)?  He indeed did say this!

Matthew 21:23-44 (listen carefully, this says it all in relation to our study): “And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?  And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.  The baptism of John, whence was it?  from heaven, or of men?  And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?  But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.  And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.  But what think ye?  A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.  He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.  And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.  Whether of them twain (two) did the will of his father?  They say unto him, The first.  Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you (He is speaking directly to the Jewish religious leaders).  For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.  Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.  And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.  Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.  But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.  But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.  And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.  When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?  They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.  Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?  Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you (referring to the nation of Israel in terms of a political entity), and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.  And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”

God severely reproves and rebukes those who tell the wicked they have peace with God and are in His favor with Scriptures like these.

Jeremiah 23:16-19: “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.  They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.  For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word?  who hath marked his word, and heard it?  Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.”

Jeremiah 48:10: “Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.”

God warned Israel the following in speaking of when they would be under judgment for rebelling against Him.

Leviticus 26:36-42: “ And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.  And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.  And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.  And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.  If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.”

It’s clear that this covenant was available to them, but they were not in it and inheriting the promises of it, without such repentance.

Regarding those who try to sneak their way back without such repentance, Jesus warns in John 10:1: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”

To say something is of God (like the modern nation of Israel) because it seemed to work for a time is called pragmatism.  Yet disregarding God’s Word never ends well.  Prospering for a season in rebellion, especially while claiming this prosperity according to God’s promise, only courts further disaster.  God is not mocked.  And yet many evangelical leaders and their blind followers, tainted by their own sins and their own presumptuous and unwarranted beliefs in having unconditional security and favor with God themselves, and likewise not giving due heed to the whole counsel of God in Scripture, justify and support the wicked, Christ-rejecting nation of modern Israel along with its wicked false ideology of Zionism.  It figures.
