Response For Those Who Find Fault With God’s Kill Count in the Bible

Human life is especially precious because man is made in God’s image. For a human to take another human life of their own accord is murder. For earthly authorities to kill those justly convicted of murder is not murder. It is seen in Genesis 9:6 how God prescribed the death penalty for convicted murderers.

When innocent children and others who are relatively innocent are harmed in general acts of God’s judgment, or perhaps due to their proximity and/or relation to the chief offenders, this illustrates more how evil and toxic sin is.

Yet no matter the “why” behind it, since all life belongs to God, and He is totally just and righteous, and also has perfect knowledge and wisdom, He is blameless when He kills someone.

Considering how rebellious humans generally are against the true God, considering how morally corrupt the earth became, and considering how many people had lived by the first century AD (when the New Testament was written and the Biblical canon was closed by the end of it), it is an amazing demonstration of the long-suffering of God that the number of Biblical killings is not much higher. It seems harder to understand why He does not make an example of more people by Sodom and Gomorrah-type judgments.

Some who total up God’s kill count in the Bible don’t add those yet to be killed on earth during the Book of Revelation. Though that number of people is imprecise, an estimate could be given like the same statisticians often give estimates regarding the imprecise numbers of people killed in the flood in Noah’s time in Genesis and the judgment on Egypt’s firstborn in Exodus.

He is awesome. He will surely kill again- and that is not to mention the lake of fire for His enemies in the next life. Don’t mess with Him.
