Here’s the quote: “He’s going to return to the earth in the second coming as a Jew.  How do you know that?  Because the book of Revelation says ‘Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah.’  Judah is the root word for the word ‘Jew.’  Jesus Christ is coming back a Jewish rabbi.  He’s going to rule and reign over this earth; and God bless His holy name.  It’s going to happen.” -John Hagee

Jesus being the Lion of the tribe of Judah is a reference to Him overcoming and being victorious in His humanity (read Revelation 5:1-4 for proof of this).  Matthew 24 also proves that Jesus will not be walking around on earth again in flesh and blood before He returns.  He ascended into heaven and will remain at the Father’s right hand until He returns as a glorified King before everyone to crush His enemies and reign over all.  His second coming will be swift and obvious.  He will not come back in the likeness of a mortal man.  He will also not have to convince anyone who He actually is.  Any man walking around claiming to be the Jewish Messiah is surely an impostor.  Likewise with any man who claims to be the return of Jesus.  

Matthew 24:23-31: “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Behold, I have told you before.  Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.  For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

In addition to being misleading in itself, Hagee’s claim that Jesus will return as a Jewish rabbi potentially paves the way for people to worship the Antichrist.  

Who does Hagee justify and exalt as a staple of his ministry?  The Jewish people.  As a whole, they have rejected Jesus as their Messiah and continue to do so.  

Who are the Jewish people still looking for?  Their Messiah.  But they rejected Jesus as their Messiah.  So wouldn’t it make a lot of sense that the Antichrist could potentially be a Jewish rabbi who is telling the Jewish people what they want to hear and promising to do things for them which they want done?  And since they are more influenced by the Talmud and Kabbalah than they are the Tanakh (i.e the Old Testament), this potential rabbi’s counsel could also be new age and occultic stuff that the world as a whole is also pleased to hear.  It is also possible that many Christian preachers would tell their audiences that this rabbi is the return of Jesus despite the Jewish people not making the connection.  

Though the Antichrist being a Jewish rabbi is only speculation, it is possible.  It is important to know that John Hagee is wrong in his claim about Jesus Christ returning as a Jewish rabbi.
