This message is not about trying to show that a specific political or economic philosophy is the answer or the best answer.  It is only to show that Leftist policies are inherently deceitful, they promote idolatry, and that there has to be political and economic philosophies better than Socialism, Communism, and other Leftist isms.  

Google AI defines covetousness as “a strong desire to have something, especially something that belongs to someone else.  It is often used in a negative sense to describe an excessive desire for material wealth or possessions.”

The Leftist ideologies of Socialism and Communism rely on the claim that mankind is not fallen and covetous in his heart.  They rather view human covetousness as only the result of living in a Capitalist society and/or being influenced by institutions which are, or which they claim to be, linked with Capitalism. 

Whether they would agree with the statement that man is inherently good or not, in order to promote the effectiveness of their political ideology those who believe in Socialism and Communism have to at least believe that everyone would get along and come to agreements concerning the definitions of what is equitable distribution of wealth for everyone and what is each individual’s fair share of labor if their system of Government were to be implemented.  They also must believe that Government officials and common citizens alike would generally act faithfully concerning such agreements.  

One example of a theoretical resolution from a Leftist which I came across in a discussion forum: “Under communism, production is done democratically and motivation will come intrinsically as a desire to do social good.”

Here is another example of a Socialist promoting the concept that implementing Socialism will cure people of greed.  In this case the Socialist is trying to refute the claim that workers in a Socialist society will inevitably stop caring about their work: “They’ll see the wonders before them and volunteer at maximum output for the greater good of society as is the natural state of human beings removed from the evil influence of Capitalism.”

This thinking is not only lunacy and utterly disconnected from reality, it also goes utterly contrary to the Bible’s verdict about man’s covetousness being deep-seated and beyond the power of any political ideology and/or economic philosophy’s implementation to root out or render harmless.

Proverbs 27:20 says: “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”

Covetousness was involved in the fall of humanity.  How much more then is man prone to covetousness after he has fallen?  How much more yet as he continues to stray from God (especially when he is in denial regarding his fallen state- or in the case of many professing Christians, denies his ability to live above his fallen state and recover from it by the grace of God in Christ- but you can’t live above the fallen state and recover from it by the grace of God in Christ unless you accept the Bible’s verdict about your fallen state)?

Exodus 20:17: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass (donkey), nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.”

It is obvious why there is merit to the claims that those who still believe in Leftist politics well into adulthood have no brain.  

The Leftists’ confidence of the realization of a flowery, ideal world if the current system were broken down and replaced with the implementation of their ideas are opposed to the Bible’s counsel, irrational, insane, and do not correspond to how people generally operate and how life tends to go.

Listen to a Socialist on a forum discussing the consequences if Socialism were implemented; and comparing that to a drastic minimum wage hike by a government: “Most things, like workers’ wages, will see some immediate improvement but just as you would see if our government suddenly decided to increase the minimum wage to $15/hour.  All wages above that would soon adjust higher too.  Similarly with Socialism.” 

No one can believe in the Left’s claims of this nature without at least one of the following things: Virtually zero experience of the real world, an extremely bad memory, or blatant lying.

The Socialist just quoted was replied to on the same forum by some without these limitations.  Here is what some of these said:

“When you’re old enough to actually witness a minimum wage increase, you’ll know better.”

“The minimum wage in my state has been going up every year since 2015, and it will go up one more time next year to $15/hr.  Other jobs haven’t gone up at the same rate, if they’ve gone up at all.”

It is also unrealistic to think that many university professors who indoctrinate their students with Leftist ideology would eagerly accept an arrangement which resulted in a lower standard of living for themselves if the type of Government they promote were to actually be implemented.  Of course, they tell us that everything will be rosy in that case.  They reason that things will get better and espouse theoretical reasons why that is so.  They act confident in their reasoning while utterly disregarding the human factors which make their theories impractical and unrealistic.  Their current salaries are also largely generated through the system which they deride and seek to bring down.  

The following bad verdict which God gave concerning the inhabitants of Judah was not given because of, nor brought about by, the economic or political philosophy which they were living under.  They had sin issues which no amount of reform or renovation in these areas, or any other term you might use in relation to change in these areas, was going to fix.

Jeremiah 6:13 says: “For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.”

Acknowledging the realities concerning mankind’s actual moral condition and the general trends of life must lead to the conclusion that there is no such thing as any political and/or economic philosophy which is the solution to bring about paradise or utopia.  

Leftist philosophies and ideologies however brand themselves to be such a solution.  This implies also that the Government which implements them is the Lord and Savior of mankind.  

Receiving this deceptive, idolatry-promoting claim is destructive in relation to this world.  It also leads to perdition in the next.

Proverbs 17:4 says: “A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.”

Whatever the best case scenario happens to be for governing and improving man’s economic condition, it is not found in any political or economic philosophy which essentially brands itself as mankind’s savior and denies basic realities which should be obvious to anyone who just pays attention and doesn’t forget everything they’ve seen and heard.  

The French monarchy in the late 18th century had a lot of corruption in it, yet the French Revolution which overthrew that monarchy, with its Reign of Terror which killed tens of thousands of people (most of whom were not among the royalty or nobility whom the Revolution was supposed to target), proved that abolishing the corrupt monarchy did not fix the corruption in the general population.  It also proved that a Leftist takeover did not bring peace and enlightenment like it was supposed to.  It rather brought mistrust, betrayal, murder, and terror (as even those who came to be the leaders of the revolution were turned on by other revolutionaries and executed).  

Those who will look to the Government to save them are guaranteed to have their hopes broken.  

Governments which promote the concept that they should be looked upon practically as mankind’s salvation are guaranteed to break their promises and cause disappointment- vast disappointment to those who trusted in them.

This is not promoting anarchy nor abandonment of political involvement.  It is rather saying that the best case scenario for Government in a fallen world will not promote itself as the great solution which a Socialist or Communist Government will present itself as.  Actually, one of the best things a Government could realistically do now is stand in place of and get in the way of those who would attempt to institute a Government which explicitly or implicitly makes such a grandiose claim.  

By the way: The billionaire bankers who are stealing from everyone else constantly are the biggest economic drain on the world.  Bringing them to justice, taking the money and resources they have stolen from the public, and redistributing those to the public could actually give people a little taste of the alleged benefits of Socialism without its inherent curses.  

The Bible labels fallen man as covetous, it warns of the vast destruction which acting upon temptations towards covetousness brings, and its verdict about man’s covetousness is that it is a heart issue rather than something tied to living under a Capitalist system or some other economic system which is not consistent with Socialist and/or Communist ideologies.  

Socialism and Communism are rather evil for directly opposing that verdict.  

Luke 12:15: “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”

Mark 7:21-23: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts (my note- that is, corrupt reasoning- that is what is being addressed here), adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness (my note- referring specifically to malicious plots and purposes), deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye (this is referring to envy), blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

These don’t originate from institutions, social structures, or anywhere else.
