Moses Wasn’t a Zionist

Zionism is basically the concept that the Jewish people are entitled to have an independent Jewish state that is on the land which had been known as the land of Israel and came to be known as Palestine.

We know that Jesus Christ Himself preached against the sins of the Jews and warned of their expulsion from the land for their refusal to bring forth the fruit of righteousness before God.  Hardhearted refusal to repent and bring forth fruits worthy of repentance in being confronted with God incarnate culminated in the Jews rejecting and crucifying their King.

The Jewish people, the religious ones anyways, yet consider Moses to be the greatest, or one of the greatest Prophets, who ever lived.  It is interesting then that Moses himself did not teach the allegedly sacred doctrine of Zionism which the modern nation of Israel is built upon.  Moses rather taught the opposite.  It is interesting yet logical that Jesus told the Jews that the very reason they reject Him is that they do not believe Moses.

Jesus tells them in John 5:45-46: “Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.  For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.”

Here we will look at just a small sample of the anti-Zionist statements found in Moses’ writings (that is, in the Pentateuch).  This is especially fitting on this day (which is the 9th of Av on the Hebrew calendar- the evening of August 12 and the day of August 13, 2024 on the Gregorian calendar which is used by most).  This is the day of the Hebrew calendar in which several major calamities have come upon the Jewish people, leaving, by the implications of the events which have happened on this day or very near this day, a special holiday to rebuke Zionist ideology and to remind the Jews they are not in God’s favor while the blood of their King remains upon them.  The practical effects of several of these events remain to this day (see my study from a year ago “Lessons from the Destruction of Israel’s Temples”).  Moreover, calamitous events for the Jews are not over.  The book on them has not closed.  The bitterness of death has not passed for modern Israel- and particularly for Jerusalem.

Hear the concept of Zionism rebuked in the Law of Moses.

Numbers 14:21-35: “And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word (if you read the chapter as a whole, you’ll see God is telling Moses that without Moses’ intercession here He would have utterly destroyed the Israelites right then and there): But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.  Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.  (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.)  Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.  And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me?  I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.  Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.  Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.  But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.  But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.  And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.  After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.  I the Lord have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”

Let the Zionists digest that.  If natural Israelites have a birthright privilege to the land from God, then a logical person would have to conclude that what Moses wrote here was not from God.  Yet since Moses served the true God and received instruction from Him, the Zionists must have another god.

Leviticus 18:24-30: “Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things (read the whole chapter to understand what is meant here): for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.  Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.  For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.  Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.”

Jerusalem is called a sister city to Sodom in Ezekiel chapter 16.

Leviticus 26:27-33: “And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me (referring to all the judgments which God said He’d bring upon Israel for their disobedience to Him already in this chapter), but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.  And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat (that has now already happened in the sieges by the Babylonians and the Romans leading up to the two occasions which the Jews’ Temple was destroyed- both times the destruction happened on the 9th of Av by the way).  And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.  And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.  And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.  And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.”

Deuteronomy 4:25-26: “When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.”

The very concept of Zionism is practically a graven image in that it is a false concept which has been connected to God.  We are seeing though that the true God taught in utter opposition to Zionism through Moses.  The God of Moses then could not be the god of Zionism.

Deuteronomy 5:32-33: “Ye shall observe to do therefore as the Lord your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.  Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.”

And that is why the Jews were indeed dispossessed of the land which Moses’ successor Joshua led them into.

Deuteronomy 28:20-21: “The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.  The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.”

The Jews have now forced their way back into that land after being consumed from it nearly two millennia ago through their defeat in their war with their Roman conquerors.  Rather than repenting of refusing to walk in all the Lord’s ways and seeking the grace of the Messiah whom they crucified, the One whom Moses and the Prophets testified of, they have rather increased their sin in acting as if they had the green light to reenter the land when they were not even in God’s grace as a people.  They had no clearance from Him to reenter at all.  Their treatment of the Palestinians and others in getting what they have got in the land at this day constitutes theft, murder, and many other severe sins and crimes.  And though the Arabs have done much wrong to the Jews in return, much of that wrong has been done in the sense that it is possible to deal with murderers, robbers, and the relatives of such outside of the boundaries of righteous law and order.

The bitterness of death has not passed.  Woe to modern Israel.  Woe to Jerusalem.
