THE DAMNABLE SINS OF PORNOGRAPHY
Pornography is incredibly harmful and sinful on many levels. Everyone knows those who indulge in porn have committed the sin of lust, but there is so much more to it than that. When you open your browser and begin to look at those images and videos, you are sinning in ways that go far beyond lust. Here are the sins you commit when you look at porn (or ANY images you sexualize in your mind).
2nd Corinthians 10:3-6 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
NO EXCUSES
Acts 17:30-31 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but NOW commandeth all men every where to REPENT: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will JUDGE THE WORLD in RIGHTEOUSNESS by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
LUST:It is sinful to lust after another person and to enable this lust through pornography or ANY other like means. Against many heretical beliefs, lusting with your heart (eyes) was a sin in the Old Testament just as it is in the New. Nothing new under the sun.
Proverbs 6:25 “Lust not after her beauty IN THINE HEART; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.”
Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, That whosoever LOOKETH ON A WOMAN TO LUST after her hath COMMITTED ADULTERY with her already in his heart.”
The very moment you begin to look at porn, you have allowed it to replace God as essential to your happiness!!! The sin bound up in pornography goes far deeper than mere lust!
You commit the grave sin of ignoring the Holy Spirit: As a Christian, you have the great honor and advantage of being indwelled by the Holy Spirit. One of the ways the Spirit ministers to you is in giving you an internal warning against sin (your conscience is Holy Spirit supercharged IF you are abiding in, obeying, Jesus). Paul assures that the Holy Spirit warns against sexual sin in particular, then provides a stern caution: “He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 4:8). To commit sexual sin is to ignore the Holy Spirit (using your free will) thus actively suppressing His voice as He warns that you need not and absolutely should not commit this sin. The Holy Spirit provides everything necessary to resist this temptation: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13). To resist the Holy Spirit and ignore His ministry to you is a serious offense against a holy God. If you commit this grave sin it’s because of your own lust (sin): “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away BY HIS OWN LUST, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth SIN: and SIN, when it is finished, bringeth forth DEATH. 16 Do not err (DO NOT SIN), my beloved brethren.” (James 1:13-16).
Matthew 18:9 “And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.”
You commit the sin of adultery: This is of course the most obvious sin you commit when you use porn. In Matthew 5, Jesus clearly makes a connection between lust and adultery. “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever LOOKETH ON A WOMAN to LUST after her HATH COMMITTED ADULTERY with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28)”. Pornography is lust and exists to foster lust and the repercussions on earth are far and wide. Never mind the eternal torment lest one STOPS sinning. Lust is simply a form of the wider sin of adultery, the deed or desire to be sexually involved with someone other than your spouse. Filthy!
You commit the sin of deceit: YOU ARE NOT SAFE IN “PRIVATE” AS MANY OF YOU THINK! GOD SEES EVERYTHING!!! Deceit is the act of concealing or misrepresenting your actions. Because pornography generates shame, you will hide it, cover it up, or refuse to confess it. When you erase your browsing history to keep your wife, husband, parents, etc from finding out about your vile, sinful addiction, when you refuse to proactively confess AND forsake it (to an accountability partner if need be), when you participate in the Lord’s Supper even though you are unrepentantly given over to it, you are practicing deceit. The Bible warns of the dire eternal consequences: “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. ” (Psalm 101:7).
1st John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the LUST OF THE FLESH, and the LUST OF THE EYES, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but IS OF THE WORLD.”
You commit the sin of greed: Sexual sin is greed, a form of taking advantage of another person to defraud them of something that is rightly theirs. The Holy Word of God insists “That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter (OF SEXUAL SIN): because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.” (1st Thessalonians 4:6). The word translated “defraud” in this context refers to being covetous and greedily taking something from someone else. It is to allow greed to motivate fraud, to unfairly and illegitimately use another person for your immoral purposes.
You Must Live A Life Pleasing to God
1st Thessalonians 4:1-8 “Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. 2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: 6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. 7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.”
You almost surely commit the sin of theft: The porn industry is littered by piracy by people illegally distributing copyrighted material (albeit filthy)! Some estimates say that for every 1 video that is downloaded legally, 5 are downloaded illegally. 60 percent of all illegal internet downloads are of pornographic content! We have no right to participate in such theft, for God says clearly, “Thou shalt not steal.” (Exodus 20:15). When you use porn, you are almost definitely watching material that has been stolen and, in that way, you are participating in its theft. Yet another sin that will damn you to the Lake of Fire for eternity.
You commit the sin of sexual assault:YUP! You read that right. A person who drives a getaway car for a band of bank robbers will rightly be charged with murder for anyone who is killed in committing that crime. The person who voluntarily watches sexual assault (which happens so very often in these filthy porn videos) for purposes of titillation is rightly guilty of that sexual assault. A large amount of pornography is violent in nature with men taking advantage of women (for the most part). Sometimes these women have volunteered for such degradation and sometimes they are forced or raped into it. Human trafficking is rampant and you watching these filthy videos or look at the pictures is aiding and abetting human traffickers too! To watch such horrifying smut is to be a participant in it and to bear the moral blemish of it leading to eternal torment.
You commit the sin of sloth: We are called to “redeem the time,” to understand that we live short lives “like a vapour” and are responsible before God to make the most of every moment “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16). Sloth is laziness, an unwillingness to use time well (to do His commandments), and reflects a willingness to use time for destructive instead of constructive purposes. Pornography is slothful and a misuse of time. It is using precious moments, hours, and days to harm others instead of help them, to foster sin instead of kill sin, to pursue an idol instead of the living God. To lie to yourself and others that think you are living Holy as commanded. “Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. 16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. 17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. 18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.” (Proverbs 19:15-18)
You commit the sin of idolatry: All sin is idolatry so any attempt to find joy and satisfaction not in God
himself but in what God forbids (Exodus 20:3-6) is damnable sin.
Exodus 20:3-6 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that
is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to
them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting
the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of
them that love me, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.”
Luke 14:26-27 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and
mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his
own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear
his cross, and come after me, CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE.”
1st John 2:6 “He that saith he abideth in HIM (JESUS) ought HIMSELF also so to walk, even as he(JESUS) walked.”
IDOLATRY is anything that has outweighed God in your life—anything that you love, trust, or obey more than God—anything that has replaced God as essential to your happiness and ANYTHING that is against His perfect moral law. In the moment you begin to look at porn, you have allowed it to replace God as essential to your happiness. You’ve committed the sin of idolatry!
Romans 14:12-13 warns: “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 13 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
Hebrews 4:13 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Job 28:24 “For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven”
Jeremiah 23:24 “Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.”

Why don’t we just get to the point?
What sin(s) are you not willing to give up for the glory of a Holy God?
Lust? Porn watching? Masturbation? Fornication? Covetousness?
Drunkenness? Sports Idolatry? Greed? Denying Jesus in front of family or
friends by not calling them to repentance? Be specific. I just want to
know what sin(s) you love so much, that you’re willing to engage in them
everyday and trample the Blood of Jesus underfoot. You don’t lack
ability to stop sinning. You lack the willingness to stop sinning. ALL
things are possible through Christ. “No temptation has overtaken you
except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow
you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will
also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” – 1
Corinthians 10:13
Jesus commands you to go and sin no more (John 5:14, 8:11). Jesus
commands you to repent or perish (Luke 13:3, 5). There are conditions
for God to have mercy on/pardon a sinner: forsaking sin and turning to
the Lord (Isaiah 55:6-7). In order for your sins to be blotted out, you
must repent and be converted (Acts 3:19).
The whole point of the preaching of Christ, according to Paul, is that
we “may present every man perfect in Christ” (Col 1:27-29). God called
Noah “perfect” (Gen. 6:9) and Job “blameless” (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3). Jesus
commands you to be perfect just like God is perfect (Matt 5:48). You
don’t have to “be Jesus” to be “perfect”. You just need to have your
sins forgiven by the blood of Jesus and then you need to take up your
cross daily, deny yourself and follow Him (Mark 8:34-38).
The Bible makes it clear that true Christians obey God. If you don’t
obey God then, you don’t love Him (John 14:15), you don’t have the grace
of God that brings salvation (Titus 2:11-14), you aren’t His friend
(John 15:14), you are His enemy (James 4:4), you don’t know Him (1 John
2:3-4), you aren’t cleansed of your sins (1 John 1:5-7), you are of the
devil (1 John 3:8), you are a slave to sin (John 8:34, Rom 6:16), you
have a dead faith (James 2:19-20), your house is built upon the sand
(Matt 7:26-27) and you will not inherit the Kingdom of God (Matt 7:21, 1
Cor. 6:9-10).
If you have been deceived by the lie that you can’t stop sinning or that
you can’t completely obey God in this life, then you need to repent. You
can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phil. 4:13). If
you walk according to the Spirit, you won’t fulfill the lusts of the
flesh (Gal. 5:16). God doesn’t let you be tempted beyond what you are
able to bear and always provides a way out of sinning (1 Cor. 10:13).
God’s commandments are not a burden to keep (1 John 5:3-4). The truth
can set you free (John 8:31-36), so that you can walk in holiness and
victory before God. God wants you to be Holy and provides all that you
need to live Holy. The only thing left is for you to start living Holy
today! Rejection of this teaching is rejection of God, not man (1 Thess.
4:3-8).
