The conflict between the Jews and the Arabs who inhabited Palestine when it was violently seized by the Jews is not a religious conflict.  The concept that it is a religious conflict is a great delusion which doesn’t correspond to reality.  There have been many thousands of Arab professing Christians oppressed and killed by the Jews, as well as other non-Muslims.  

For all that the Zionist Jew invaders of the land cared, they would have done the same (or perhaps a lot worse) if the entire Arab population of Palestine were faithful Christians.

Though some oppressed Arabs, and others looking in from the outside, might see the Jewish invasion and occupation as a war on Islam, that is not what it is at its roots. The Jews who invaded Palestine in 1948 had no significant consideration of the religion of those whom they killed or drove away.  This was also the case in the conflicts leading up to the mass invasion of 1948 which corresponded to Israel becoming a nation again.  That has remained the case as the Jews have continued since then to take more land, drive the Arabs into ever more confined areas, and to ethnically cleanse the land of Arabs continually (for over 75 years now).  

With all the reporting on Hamas, what is often obscured is that the modern nation of Israel was founded by the terrorism of the Jewish people upon the Arabs who had come to lawfully inhabit that land.  Hamas is an Islamic group which formed as a response to this terror.  Though Hamas views its resistance against Israel as a resistance on behalf of Islam, reality does not dictate that resistance to Zionism must be Islamic.  Though the Palestinians have turned to Islam more deeply since 1948, and the predominant resistance to the Zionist Jews which developed among them has been Islamic, none of this means that resistance to the Zionists has to be Islamic nor mean that becoming Islamicized was a good solution to the oppression of the Zionists.
