Can You be Pro-Israel Yet Not Support its Government’s Actions?

Is it logical to be pro-Israel yet not support the actions of its government?

When people who are not Israelis themselves say that they are pro-Israel, yet against the actions of its government, they are almost certainly trying to say that they do not support Israel’s despicable treatment and mass killing of Palestinians while still claiming that Israel has a right to exist. These might be implying that this behavior is mainly the doing of Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration and something that wasn’t happening much before late 2023. Those who speak like this are dead wrong.

A 2025 survey conducted by the Israeli firm Geocartography in cooperation with Penn State University found that 82 percent of Israelis support the forced deportation of all of Gaza’s residents. 56 percent even support the deportation of the approximately 2 million Arab citizens within Israel. Moreover, the study found that 47 percent believe that Israel’s military should kill every last person in Gaza.

The Israeli government’s treatment of the Palestinians is not why Netanyahu is widely disliked within Israel. He is only carrying out the goals of Israel’s founders in that regard. If anything, Netanyahu could gain more support within Israel if he were to increase his unlawful and brutal treatment of the Palestinians.

Is it really logical then to be pro-Israel yet not support its government’s actions? Can you be pro-mafia yet not support organized crime?

The concept of being pro-Israel, yet against the actions of its government, is not logical. It is rather something which people say to try to preserve themselves from the internal and external consequences of acknowledging reality. Israel itself is the problem. Modern Israel was founded on the premise that Arabs have no rights in comparison to Jews. Without a massive amount of theft from others, and without killing many who stand in the way of that, there is simply no modern Israel at all.

There are many who think they have to support Israel because of what certain fools claim the Bible teaches. However, to really believe the Bible one must acknowledge it says over and over that the Jews were not given the land of Canaan unconditionally. They were indeed kicked out of the land for corporately rejecting their Messiah. To claim that Israel has a God-given right to exist is a denial of Jesus Christ, the Seed promised to come through Abraham. Those who obediently believe in Him are those who inherit the blessing which God gave to Abraham. Those who reject Him do not possess that blessing. There are no exceptions.

Galatians 3:29: “And if ye be Christ’s (i.e. if you belong to Christ), then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Matthew 3:9: “And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.”
