Misc. Points Demonstrating the Wicked Lunacy of Calvinism Pt.1

I’ve done other studies to thoroughly refute Calvinism from different angles.  I especially refer to “The 5 Points of Calvinism Refuted in 7 Minutes”, “Calvinist Strongholds Are Built on Sinking Sand (Romans 9 Study)”, and the “Reformed/Calvinistic Theology Refuted Compilation.”

Here we will look at miscellaneous points intended to complement and expand upon these studies, and to overall further demonstrate that Calvinism is indeed wicked lunacy from the pit of hell which should be forsaken by anyone who would believe and follow sound Biblical truth.

Most every Calvinist believes that they are among the elect.  Virtually no one would believe in it otherwise.

According to Calvinism, the elect are basically just the winners of a random lottery conducted by the arbitrary, capricious god of Calvinism (see also my study- “Biblical Election: It’s Conditional; Not Unconditional”).

Truly worshiping God acceptably means counting Him as worth more than any sin that one could pursue.  No one would really ever do that if Calvinistic Irresistible Grace were a true concept.

In teaching that spiritual life (or, regeneration) comes before repentance towards God, the Calvinists practically falsely claim that John the Baptist is the after-runner to Christ rather than the forerunner to Christ.

There’s no real point in training and teaching children in Biblical principles if Calvinistic Unconditional Election were real.  If anything in that case, training and teaching children Biblically, thinking that might impact whether they eventually obtain a saving interest in Christ, would be trying to meddle with God’s unconditional election.

Proverbs 22:6 says: “ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Yet if people were born totally depraved as Calvinism teaches, there could obviously be no potential benefit in righteously teaching/training a totally depraved child.

According to the Calvinist view of all people being born as totally depraved, Jesus invited God-hating small children to come to Him- and said that of such God-haters is the kingdom of God.

Deuteronomy 4:1-9 refutes Calvinism in several ways (read it).  Fallen mankind which is dead in sin can appreciate the wisdom of God’s commandments like we learn here is the case.  If dead in sin meant totally depraved, this could not be the case.

According to the very logic of Calvinism, there was no need for John Calvin to even teach and promote his doctrines.

Galatians 5:16-17 says: “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”

This refutes Calvinism since it proves that we each must make a choice regarding whom we serve that neither our flesh nor the Holy Spirit of God has the final say in.

James 1:22 says: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Yet if God imputed Christ’s personal righteousness to people like Calvinism teaches, there would be no need to be a doer of the Word.  It is clear the concept that God imputes Jesus Christ’s personal righteousness to anyone is a deception.

The Bible is clear that those who are justifying themselves in their sin can’t have justification from God.  Calvinism is a whole system which helps its adherents justify themselves in their sin.

Yes, of course God requires cooperation from man.  Refusal to obediently cooperate with the true God is why people go to hell.  Why else would anyone be sent to hell?

It is nonsense to hold someone responsible for their sins if they do not have the ability to repent of their sins.

The Calvinist will surely double talk about whether salvation is conditional or unconditional- unless he doesn’t talk at all.

Many wicked Jews, today and throughout history, are essentially Calvinists who think they are special, unconditionally chosen ones of God (in their case, since they are naturally Jewish).

Several concepts which are real, valid checks to the Christian’s pride based upon the truth of Scripture are actually detestable according to the Calvinist mindset.  These include:

The Christian is still under probation.

The Christian’s salvation is not complete yet.

The Christian still has a course to finish which they are not guaranteed to finish without disqualification.

The Calvinists cannot sidestep several Bible passages without contradicting their own theology or sounding like utter fools.  The following were written by the man whose writings the Calvinists appeal most to try to validate their theology.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27: “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?  So run, that ye may obtain.  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.  Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.  I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

1 Timothy 4:16: “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”

Since Jesus is not a partial respecter of persons, He would distribute saving faith in Him to everyone if He did so for anyone.

If faith were irresistibly given to some as the exclusive work of God, then everyone else would have a just complaint against God on Judgment Day, and claim that they would have exercised authentic faith in Christ as well- if God had only done for them what He had done for others.  Such a charge though will never be justly made against the God of the Bible  (unlike the imaginary Calvinist god).

The God of the Bible is impartial, rational, and logical.  The god of Calvinism is arbitrary, capricious, and random.

The Calvinists, if they are honest about their theology, cannot actually say that God will never force anyone to believe in Him/worship Him/serve Him, etc.  The one who is speaking consistent with the Bible can indeed say God will never so force anyone.  This is a just vindication of His character, rightfully leaving the blame of those under condemnation upon themselves (where it rightfully belongs).

Peter is said to be raised up by the angel of the Lord while in prison and delivered from Herod (see Acts 12:1-11).  This episode shows the foolishness of Calvinistic Monergism and illustrates how phrases which the Calvinists are quick to hijack need to be taken in line with common sense.  Peter was raised up and delivered by the angel- yet Peter still had to do several things to cooperate in this.  He had to exercise own will and exert his own strength in order to actually escape the prison and obtain deliverance.  This did not mean that his deliverance could not be ascribed to God in truth.

The Apostle Paul’s exhortation to new Christians to continue in the grace of God in Acts 13:43 is meaningless and silly if Calvinistic Irresistible Grace and Calvinistic Perseverance are real things.  Yet the fact that an inspired Apostle gave such an exhortation shows Calvinistic Irresistible Grace and Calvinistic Perseverance to be imaginary and silly.

Jude is an entire book of the Bible dedicated to exposing those who teach unconditionally eternal security/Once Saved Always Saved doctrine as the Calvinists do.  It exhorts us to beware of those who preach this doctrine and to know that such a concept is inconsistent with the faith once delivered to the saints that we are exhorted to earnestly contend for.  This unconditional eternal/Once Saved Always Saved concept is a key way of (quoting now from Jude verse 4) “turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

It makes sense that Satan wants true Christians to think that all who apparently fall away from Christ were never really true believers in Him to begin with.  Why?  He obviously does not want a true Christian to think that they might indeed be the next spiritual fatality (contrary to the warnings given in Romans 11:19-22, 1 Corinthians 10:1-12, etc).

1 Corinthians 8:10-12 says: “For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?  But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.”

This passage alone refutes the five points of Calvinism in multiple ways and sends the entire system of Calvinism crashing down to oblivion in the mind of the honest student of Scripture.

Likewise with 2 Peter 2:1: ”But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies (my note- like Calvinism), even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

James chapter two clearly teaches against justification by faith alone.  To teach this concept as the truth is to go directly contrary to Scripture.  It also sets those who hear this teaching up to justly be regarded as those of “all talk and no action”; and to be justly categorized “this people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from me.”

Revelation 14:9-12 says: “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

This is one of a multitude of Bible proofs that the authentic faith of Jesus binds one to God’s commandments.

Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

The Bible thus puts the onus of faith upon man.  Calvinism thus denies God the glory He receives when a person stakes their life on receiving and pursuing the revelation which He has given to man of Himself.

James 1:12-17 says: “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.  Do not err, my beloved brethren.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Calvinism on the other hand, by negating human responsibility and influence on earth through its twisted definition of God’s sovereignty, squarely blames God for all evil things.

The very fact that sinners will desperately look for excuses not to repent of their sins, and the fact that they have no good reason to do this, makes it obvious that they are responsible to repent of their sins and capable of doing so.

2 Peter 3:17-18 warns authentic Christians: “Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To him be glory both now and for ever.  Amen.”

This rebukes the Calvinist, Monergistic mentality of “It has to be all Jesus and none of you.” It also rebukes the Calvinist mentality that affirming the necessity for man to cooperate with the grace of God is bad and essentially a statement that “you do not need Jesus and can make it on your own.”

Silly Calvinist: Romans chapter 9 is dealing with why God has cut off the natural Jews who reject Jesus Christ from His covenant promises.  It is essentially a statement that we must come to God on His terms, and not on our own, or we will be rejected- no exceptions.

Augustine is evidently the grandfather of Calvinism.  This connects all Calvinists with Roman Catholicism.  It also makes it hard to separate Roman Catholics from Calvinism.

Here’s a key quote: “Augustine is so fully with me, that if I wished to write a confession of my faith, I could do so with all fullness and satisfaction to myself out of his writings.” – John Calvin

We read in Acts 26:28-29 (regarding when Paul spoke before King Agrippa): “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.  And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.”

Paul was not afraid of sounding kinder or more benevolent than God by saying this.  If Calvinism were true, that is indeed how he would be painting himself.

Acts 26:16-29 also just plain goes contrary to Calvinism  in several different ways.  Yet much faulty learning has made the Calvinists mad (look at how inconsistent and illogical they are).

The Calvinist betrays his own theology when he thinks better or worse of someone for agreeing or disagreeing regarding his attempts to promote and defend Calvinist theology to them.

A Calvinist proves that they don’t really believe in Calvinism every time they show frustration with anyone for opposing Calvinism or for not embracing Calvinism.

If Calvinism were actually true, it would have to all be God’s doing whenever it was embraced by anyone.

Yet the Calvinists do not seem to fear taking glory from God if anyone should back down from criticizing Calvinism, or convert to Calvinism, through their efforts.

The one who promotes Calvinism implies in everything he says that you have decisions to make about whether you will embrace Calvinistic concepts or not.

Calvinism could only be true if sound logic is meaningless.

Calvinists will often say things like “We can’t choose God; we can’t seek Him.”  And then they’ll turn around and say something like “Now, go and pray.  Seek God to give you grace.”

Calvinistic Monergism doesn’t hold up in light of the illustrations of Scripture.  Imagine if Israel under Joshua had been Monergists in trying to conquer Canaan.  They would have been fools who utterly failed and they would have all got killed.  Those who follow Calvinism are spiritual wrecks.

The typical Calvinist thinks that the non-Calvinist needs to get a good Calvinist education so that they will be as smart as the Calvinists.  This education is intended to cause those who receive it to acknowledge that they have nothing to do with their own understanding and spiritual status.

The Calvinist’s own theology doesn’t actually require him to be honest all the time.  The Calvinist even typically admits himself to be a wretched sinner and says that he must remain so all the days of his life.  If Calvinists are such wretched sinners as they typically confess themselves to be, then why can they be trusted?  And why wouldn’t they be using Calvinism as a license to sin?

It is no wonder then that the Calvinist would hide his Calvinism sometimes, lie about what Calvinism actually teaches, be dishonest over evidence which proves Calvinism false, and make false accusations against those who stand against Calvinism and expose it for what it really is.

Face it, Calvinist.  You have chosen to believe that you don’t have freewill to worship and serve God acceptably.  You also want your hearers to make the same choice as you promote Calvinism to them.

Calvinists must repent of embracing Calvinism to the end of receiving and living by every Word of God without Calvinistic glasses nor any other bias.

A huge reason people are drawn to Calvinism is because of its lying implication that their sin and failure could never cause any actual harm.

The Calvinists actually attempt to deify man by claiming that any and all of his actions were predestined by God.

Perhaps the biggest reason Calvinism has spread so much is that people have been putting up with it and are more eager to not offend Calvinists than to defend the integrity of God’s Word.

To earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints like the Bible commands, and be true to Christ, we must have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to Calvinism.

Ephesians 5:11-12 says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”

That goes for much that goes on at universities and seminaries as it does for what goes on at bars and in the red light district.

Calvinism preaches another god besides the God of the Bible.  It should have never even been considered a sound expression of Christianity at all.

Two key aspects of true repentance towards God are turning from falsehood harbored in one’s mind and turning from spiritually yoking with those who are evidently committed to falsehood.
