The Lie of Unconditional “Imputed Righteousness”

STUDY NOTES BELOW:
IMPUTE: To Number Among
G3049
λογίζομαι
logizomai
log-id’-zom-ahee
Middle voice from G3056; to take an inventory, that is, estimate (literally or figuratively): – conclude, (ac-) count (of), + despise, esteem, impute, lay, number, reason, reckon, suppose, think (on).
Total KJV occurrences: 41ROM 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,Many today “wrest” or “torture” Paul’s words to their own destruction.

2PET 3:16 As also in all his (Paul)epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.Roman’s 4:6 is a passage that is often “tortured”. They believe that the word “impute” means to “inject” with something. Sort of like and IV you would get at the hospital. In other words, they believe that they are “injected” with a substance called “righteousness” so that God no longer sees them as the sinners they are.

They believe the sins they are committing right now, are invisible and cannot be seen through this “injection” of this substance they have been given. Since they likely already believe in “Sin Nature” and believe that “SIN” is also a substance or a disease they were born with, it is not hard for them to make the transition into believing they need this “injection” of righteousness, so they can go on now, sinning in peace, and still enter Eternal life when they die. They believe that by saying some magic words, or making some mental assent and say “I BELIEVE”, that they have now have received this mysterious “injection” and can now sin with impunity and their sins are now invisible. This is a child’s fable.

This is all a demonic lie from the pit of hell. It is childish and foolish. They have turned the grace of God into Lasciviousness.

IMPUTE means to accredit, consider, or “count as” or “be counted among”.  Or be numbered among.

ROM 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Roman’s 4:8 is saying to us “blessed is the man whose sins are
forgiven.” No longer “counted against” him. Now, no longer considered.

ROM 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Impute means forgiveness.
Paul was quoting from David in Psalm 32 which is TRUE repentance
PS 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
PS 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

God doesn’t count sin against a person in whose spirit there is no guile. A TRULY penitent heart, bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance shown by  deeds of remorse through faith working by love. The forgiveness is for PAST SINS.

ROM 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
2PET 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his OLD SINS.

Romans 5:13-14 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (14) Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

Sin was in the world from Adam to Moses but the Mosaic law was not accounted to them. But, because all sinned from their youth, Rom 3:23 all die spiritually.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

They all died physically because they no longer had access to the tree of life. Remember the two books where the tree of life is mentioned?

Death is the consequence of sin:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I agree that all men have sinned, but, it is not because God has made men sinners. But, because every human in the flesh has rebelled against their Creator.

All humans have sinned of their own choice. God did not supernaturally change them when Eve and Adam sinned. In Gen 4 we see God talking to Cain telling him that sin was at his door and he should rule over it. Sin is breaking God’s law.

1 John 3:4 People die spiritually when they sin against God and are separated from Him.

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Isaiah 59:1-2 states that He won’t even hear sinners prayers.

Isa 59:1  Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
Isa 59:2  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

This is confirmed in John 9:31 as well.

Joh 9:31  Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Because access to the tree of Life is removed from them they will not continue to live and die in their flesh because they sinned. We see the tree of Life show up again in the book of Revelation. We do know that they did not immediately die physically when they sinned so this must be spiritual death not physical death…

The truth is that God does see our sins. Don’t allow foolish lies to permeate our minds. These lies are deceptive and take root establishing theologies outside the realm of scripture. Such as:

God doesn’t see me – He sees Jesus.

But scripture says:

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

There is nothing you can do, Jesus did it all.

But scripture says:

Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

I can’t help myself, I sin every day. But scripture says:

1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Sin is no longer the issue because I’m saved.

Luk 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

There are multitudes of lies out there, and a scripture to counter every single one of them. Don’t be deceived by false teachers preaching lies and hypocrisy. Be sure that the beliefs that you hold are based upon the true gospel. Renew your minds daily in the Word of God for Christ alone is the Living Waters of salvation.
