It is Especially Difficult to be Saved in This Generation (Short Version)

Walking straight on the narrow way to life in Christ has always necessarily involved putting aside distractions and foregoing momentary pleasure which those around you are indulging in.  Yet this was not always necessarily a constant relentless battle like it is now.

It was always the case that being confronted with religious deception was inevitable.  Yet being constantly bombarded with religious deception has not always been normal.

There was always ungodly entertainment which those who would be faithful to the Lord had to contend with and shun the conspicuous or insidious influence of.  It was not always so that it was the norm to have such entertainment constantly available.

It was always the case that one had to recognize and renounce corrupt societal norms which are out of line with Biblical truth.  It was not always the case that such things permeated virtually every aspect of society and abounded to the extent which they do today (and that is also true of the segments of society which are labelled as Christian).

People have always had carnal cravings which have tempted them to give themselves over to instant satisfaction and the gratification of their own egos.  Yet it has not always been the norm for people to be able to have these demands fed and allowed to grow as is the case today.

Immodesty and seduction have always operated to some extent in certain ways on every level of society.  Immodesty and seduction have not always been so normal, socially acceptable, and blatant like they are now.

When someone acts like being faithful to Christ and on track to inherit God’s kingdom isn’t a difficult thing, they are only proving that they are out of the way themselves.

The pull of the stream to follow the lusts of the devil rather than do the will of God has evidently become notably stronger in recent times.

The main reason for that increased strength is the internet (I mean, what the internet has become and the internet’s accessibility to most people).

The internet provides a near constant distraction; and through the internet we also have such a large sample of all the temptation the devil could ever dream of throwing at us, along with a mountain of reasons (that is, lies and poor excuses) from a multitude of sources, coming from a multitude of angles, to not really die to sin and self to follow the real Jesus who upholds the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

There really is a vicious spiritual war for your soul.  Your eternity really is at stake.

Jesus’ promise in John 8:51 remains: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
