Humanism and Pragmatism in the Churches Betray the Lord
They simply care more about their own financial gain, their preservation, and/or their own agendas than they actually care about proclaiming and preaching the Bible faithfully. Sometimes this is done by blatantly teaching things that are not true. However, often this happens by not talking about the Bible’s verdict on issues which the Bible deals with. This is especially the case when it comes to issues that are on most people’s radar anyways and/or issues which are likely to demand change if the Bible’s counsel on the matter was actually set forth in the church- without holding back and without apologizing.
Whenever the attitude in a church’s decision making process is impacted by the mentality that the Bible’s full counsel should be held back because of potential backlash from the congregation, potential loss of the church’s tax exempt status, potential loss of some other funding for the church, or some other consequence which threatens the church’s survival, prosperity, man-made goals, or the comfort of those in the congregation- then that is a sure sign that the church is corrupted by humanism and pragmatism.
These deadly philosophies also inevitably contribute to false doctrine prevailing in a church, and the prevalence of myths in a church (which are practically attempts to add to God’s Word). Many have grown up in churches, or otherwise been significantly exposed to churches, which were already corrupted by such leaven.
Churches and church leaders which care more about the preservation and success of their church (that is, success in the eyes of men) are unfaithful shepherds; they are the blind leading the blind.
Such is the essence of humanism and pragmatism.
The counsel of such churches is overall deceitful.
Any church which does not lead people to abandon themselves to follow the truth of the Bible has to be labeled as a false church in order to be properly labeled.
How can anyone be a faithful Christian walking in the grace of God if they have not abandoned themselves to the truth of His Word and so cast themselves into the hands of the true God? They absolutely cannot.
John 8:31-32: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
And how can a church lead people in such a walk if its leadership doesn’t walk the same way in managing and guiding the church? It absolutely cannot lead people in such a walk- at least not for very long.
Such churches aren’t guided by what is right and true in God’s eyes. They are rather ruled by human happiness and human goals, since these are evidently guiding principles when the truth of God’s Word is thrown away, put in the backseat, or even prevented from guiding the steering wheel- by whatever means and for whatever reason.
Those who want to be on Christ’s side should flee these churches since they are at enmity with Christ.
They should join, or at least be ready to join, a church where the Word of God truly reigns and subservience to human happiness, agendas, and goals is regarded as hideously as Judas ought to be regarded for betraying Jesus with a kiss.
2 Timothy 4:1-4: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick (living) and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Revelation 22:14-20: “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie (my note- which includes all ruled by humanistic and pragmatic mentalities since embracing these practically involves partaking in lying). I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Deuteronomy 4:2: “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought (anything) from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.”
