PREACHING WITH “JUDGMENTAL & HARSH” WORDS? BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF HOW TO PREACH
Let’s go to the bible to see what words Jesus and others used in trying to win souls:
Matthew 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Ok. Well, I could be wrong in that respect. But I heard those judgmental preachers telling people they were going to Hell if they refused to ‘repent of their sins’. Jesus never said things like that!
Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Mark 9:43-44 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:45-46 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:47-48 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Ezekiel 16:28 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.

Luke 3:7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Sound familiar? He used the exact same words as Jesus Himself (Matt 23:33) by calling the proud poisonous SNAKES. John the Baptist sure knew how to follow Jesus example of being gentle to all and careful not to “push people away from God”, didn’t he?

I’m starting to think these holy men got a failing grade in Gentle Acceptance Preaching 101.
James…
James 4:4,8-9 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 8)Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded. 9) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and [your] joy to heaviness.
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 5:1-3 Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire…
Eat your flesh as it were fire? Wow! If anyone knew how to draw people to God by gentleness and acceptance, it was James.
This could go on and on and on, but the conclusion is abundantly clear. If you are to make a judgement concerning any preacher, or anyone who witnesses biblically, which concludes that they are morally wrong in making hard statements or speaking harsh rebukes to proud sinners, you have no Biblical foundation with which to support said judgement. Many criticize preachers who severely reprove sinners, saying that they misrepresent Jesus. They say that they turn people away from God. They claim that Jesus Christ never preached this way, and therefore these street preachers are giving Christianity and Jesus a bad name. In doing so, these critics are speaking of an imaginary Jesus. The Jesus they claim to be referencing does not exist. Their Jesus is more like Mister Rogers. But guess what? You don’t get crucified by acting like Mister Rogers. There is a reason why the prophets were murdered, why the disciples were murdered and why mobs of people couldn’t wait to kill the Lord Jesus Christ, and it wasn’t because they preached, “God loves everyone just the way they are.” It also wasn’t because they preached love, acceptance and tolerance to all. Jesus told us exactly why in John 7.
John 7:7, “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, BECAUSE I TESTIFY OF IT, THAT THE WORKS THEREOF ARE EVIL.”
If you happen to be one of those critics, one of those people saying that “hard” preachers are misrepresenting Jesus Christ, you have a big problem! The problem is that you are saying they are not being like Jesus Christ. But there is ONLY one Jesus Christ, and He called proud sinners wolves, hypocrites, children of the devil, fools, blind guides, vipers, evil, white washed tombs, wretched, miserable, devils, abominable, whoremongers, idolaters… how long does it go on before you confess to your false judgments, critic? He warned people so graphically of eternal hell fire, that He said that they would weep and gnash their teeth in fire and torment with brimstone and worms that never would die in a fire that would never be quenched… FOREVER!
To take some velvet gloves, gentle only, smooth “loving” approach to proud, arrogant, mocking sinners, is to purposely avoid following Jesus Christ’s example OF preaching. So the question to you, preaching critic, is would you suggest that all preachers of the gospel endeavor to be un-Christlike? Was the Apostle Paul un-Christlike when he called people backbiters, God haters, liars, drunkards, thieves and whoremongers? Was James being un-Christlike when he called adulterers, adulterers and adulteresses, adulteresses? No. They along with every other true preacher of righteousness, were being just like Jesus. It is by the FEAR of God that men depart from evil (Proverbs 16:6). It’s a sharp rebuke that can lead a proud immoral person to becoming sound in the faith (Titus 1:13 “This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;”). There is only one condition in which a person receives the grace and gentle mercy of God, and that is humility. God RESISTS the proud, and ONLY gives grace to the humble (James 4:6 “…God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”). You will find NOT ONE instance in scripture when Jesus Christ extended mercy and grace to the proud-hearted. Only a Biblically illiterate, blind guide would do such a thing. Such a “minister” would only make sinners feel affirmed and reassured in their rebellion to God, and would themselves be an accomplice to their eternal damnation!
WHY DOES A TRUE CHRISTIAN REPROVE (REBUKE) A SINNER. OUT OF LOVE FOR THEIR SOUL AND IT’S COMMANDED
2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
A CHRISTIAN IS NOT TO YOKE (HANG OUT) WITH A SINNER. THEY ARE TO REPROVE THEM
Ephesians 5:11 “And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness(SINNERS), but rather REPROVE THEM.”
Psalm 26:9-10 “Gather not my soul with SINNERS, nor my life with bloody men: 10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.”
YOU CONDEMN THEM YOU WILL PERISH IN HELLFIRE WITH THEM
Pro 11:21 “Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.”
Pro 17:15 “He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.”
There is a great scourge in this world today. It’s called the apostate gospel. It has an invented god who is all loving and does not hate wickedness. Therefore, it commands you to teach its apostate message extolling all of God’s wonders and none of His WARNINGS. This apostate gospel has produced a perpetual whining, bleeding heart, crybaby parade that absolutely hates true biblical soul winning. Consequently, it has produced scores of people who cannot hear the true revelation of God’s Word above the sound of their constant murmuring, crying and complaining against the true preachers of God’s righteousness. They say things like, “You are being judgmental!”, “You have no right to judge!”. All the while, they are displaying themselves to be the most outrageous hypocrites of all, because the statements that have just left their mouths are what? JUDGMENTS. They are fulfilling the Word spoken by the prophet Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
If you are one of these blind, whining, murmuring complainers marching along following blind guides who are leading you around in the perpetual crybaby parade, you must realize that all of these hard words from the TRUE, LIVING, HOLY GOSPEL are pointed directly at you. This is doubtless why you raise such a fuss when you hear such things. You need to recognize that you have a much bigger problem than some true Christian who has offended you. You need to realize that you are speaking against the true everlasting gospel, and you need to heed the words themselves and forsake your sins! You must look at all of those horrifying Hellfire warnings and take them personally! Your easy-believism, smooth speeches, pseudo gospel has never saved a single soul, including yours! So recognize your own personal sin before a Holy, Righteous Judge who has eternal fiery indignation awaiting them that speak against Him, and cry out to Him to save you and cleanse you from all of your iniquity. Then, not only will “confrontational” (BIBLICAL) preaching not offend you, but you will do some yourself and help save others who are caught in the same blinding snare as you.
It will be too late at your last breath:
Jude 1:14-15 “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 TO EXECUTE JUDGMENT upon all, and to convince all that are UNGODLY (SINNERS) among them of all their UNGODLY DEEDS (SIN) which they have ungodly committed (AS HATERS OF JESUS & RIGHTEOUSNESS), and of all their hard speeches which UNGODLY SINNERS have spoken against him.”
1St Peter 4:18 “And if the RIGHTEOUS SCARCELY BE SAVED, WHERE SHALL THE UNGODLY AND SINNER APPEAR?”
To Jesus Christ be all the glory forever and ever AMEN!
