Genesis 12 Doesn’t Teach Those Who Bless Modern Israel Are Blessed; it Teaches the Opposite

Genesis 12:1-3: “Now the Lord had said unto Abram (who eventually became Abraham), Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Multitudes upon multitudes of preachers (and many politicians too) use these very verses to say that to be blessed by God you need to bless modern Israel. Sadly, many don’t discern how stupid they sound for equating the modern nation of Israel with faithful Abraham and the seed which came from him whereby God’s blessing on him was actualized.

Since the blessing of Abraham is available to all families of the earth through Jesus Christ who is the promised seed of Abraham, how can blessing a nation which rejects and bitterly opposes Jesus be equivalent to blessing Abraham? It cannot be (and go ask that question to the snakes quoting Genesis 12 while claiming you need to support modern Israel).

The seed of the woman which the Lord said would bruise the serpent’s head in Genesis 3:15 is the same which came through Abraham’s descendants whereby Abraham was ultimately blessed and made a blessing.

Galatians 3:16: “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.”

God’s blessing on Abraham is applicable to the chosen seed which was promised to come through Abraham, Israel’s Messiah Jesus Christ. This blessing also extends to all repentant believers in Him who live under the authority of His Word.

Walking in a living faith in Christ as Abraham did in principle (since Jesus is God -although He had not been incarnate through being born of a virgin when Abraham lived) is how one partakes of God’s blessing upon Abraham today; not by supporting a nation whose inhabitants mostly blatantly reject Jesus Christ which harbors especially great hostility towards Him.

Galatians 3:27-29 (note that having been baptized into Christ means to have come under His authority- the thing which valid Christian baptism is supposed to signify and be a genuine extension of): “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Being of Abraham’s natural seed never made one of his spiritual seed. Being of his spiritual seed is what matters. Being of his natural seed never, in any case ever, accomplished anything more than giving one advantage to being among his spiritual seed (with greater condemnation for those who don’t make proper use of that advantage). Jesus rebuked many Jews who were among Abraham’s natural seed for not being among his spiritual seed due to their love of sin (John 8:37-59).

In Luke 2:32 Jesus is called “A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”

Since that is so, then opposition to Jesus Christ is cursing Abraham in principle and bringing a curse upon those who do so (ancient Israel was raised up through certain of Abraham’s descendants for the purpose of bringing forth Christ). This extends to opposition to His true people, since the blessing on Abraham extends to them. Moreover, to bless those who are opposing Christ and His people, as if they are on the Lord’s side, is to oppose Jesus Christ by justifying His enemies.

Those who bless the modern nation of modern Israel, which hates Jesus Christ and His people, is to curse Abraham in principle and bring the curse promised towards his enemies in Genesis chapter 12 upon oneself.

Proverbs 17:15 says: “He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.”

Modern Israel has done the very thing which its advocates have falsely accused the nation of Israel’s critics of doing. It is rather cursed for oppressing the poor who did nothing to warrant such treatment at their hands- especially in its disregard for those who are, or who at least for all that they know could be, among the authentic people of Christ. Talk about accusing your enemy of doing the very thing that you do.

The snakes on Christian radio, television, and in the pulpits are also not telling you that, when the Bible says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem in Psalm 122, that this was said at the time in relation to the house of the Lord (i.e. the Temple) being there (just read the whole Psalm to know that- it is short). Jesus forsook the Temple in Jerusalem- and it is long gone (Matthew 23:37-39). The Lord promises no peace to the wicked (Isaiah 48:22, Isaiah 57:21, etc). The false prophets have always been the ones who say “Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:14)

The reality that salvation is of the Jews means greater trouble for Jews who reject their own Messiah. It is not sane to bless these as if they have received Him, and are walking before God in spirit and in truth, like their natural ancestor Abraham did.
