Christmas and Easter Are Pagan Holidays Disguised as Christian
The Bible has much to say about making sure to keep Paganism and all covetousness out of God’s worship. However, the Bible never prescribes for anyone to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Christmas surely isn’t derived from any command in the Bible. There is also not any good reason to believe that Jesus was born on December 25th. The speculation in early Christian writings about Him being born on December 25th seems to stem from the strange belief that a holy person dies on the day of the year in which they were conceived. That logic in itself is superstitious, unwarranted, and not based on anything in the Bible.
Some point out Jesus being present at the Feast of Dedication in John chapter 10 to try to justify Christmas celebration. Yet the evil associations of Christmas put it in a different category (the Feast of Dedication did not have its origins in the Old Testament yet it did not have its origins in Paganism either). God commanded in the Bible not to incorporate Paganism into His worship (see Deuteronomy 12:29-32). Along the same lines, 1 Corinthians 5:6 warns that a little leaven leavens the whole lump. There is more than a little leaven in the celebration of Christmas due to the evident Pagan traditions which are related to it.
As with celebrating Christmas, celebrating Easter doesn’t prove one bit that one is a true disciple of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, many who clearly disregard what the Bible does say (not just on this matter but on many other matters as well) treat these holidays as sacred and are zealous to defend them like they ought to be zealous to actually keep God’s Word.
The Pagan fertility symbols of eggs and bunnies which represent Easter make it evident that Easter is a Pagan holiday. As with Christmas, the proper boundaries of Christianity would be so much clearer if society just celebrated Easter as a blatantly Pagan holiday with no Christian association whatsoever. The celebration of these holidays presents Jesus Christ as common, marketable, and accessible to heathens right as they continue in heathen ways.
It is also lying to children to tell them about Santa and the Easter Bunny as if they are real. They are really the main characters of these holidays. We all know it. In both Christmas and Easter Jesus is generally regarded practically as, if anything, a supporting cast member or at most a co-star.
Isaiah 42:8 says: “I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
If for no other reason at all, one who really wants to honor Jesus should not celebrate Christmas nor Easter due to how Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are actually the prominent figures in these holidays. That alone qualifies them as Pagan holidays.
