THE “NEW” MARCIONITES
Marcionism was an Early Christian dualist belief system that originated in the teachings of Marcion of Sinope at Rome around the year 144. (110-160)
Marcion believed Jesus was the savior sent by God, and Paul the Apostle was his chief apostle, but he rejected the Hebrew Bible and the God of Israel. Marcionists believed that the wrathful Hebrew God was a separate and lower entity than the all-forgiving God of the New Testament. OTHERWISE KNOWN AS DUALISM!
Marcionism, similar to Gnosticism, depicted the God of the Old Testament as a tyrant or demiurge (THE CREATOR/CRAFTSMAN) (see also God as the Devil). Marcion’s canon consisted of eleven books: a gospel consisting of ten sections drawn from the Gospel of Luke; and ten Pauline epistles.
Marcion denied the second coming of Christ and maintained that Jesus was not the Jewish Messiah but a manifestation of the “good” God. He mandated fasting on Saturday in opposition to the God of the Jewish Sabbath. He rejected marriage and would baptize only the unmarried–an attitude that resulted in an understandable tendency to minimize the natural growth of his sect.
Marcion’s canon rejected the entire Old Testament, along with all other epistles and gospels of the 27 book New Testament canon.[ Paul’s epistles enjoy a prominent position in the Marcionite canon, since Paul is credited with correctly transmitting the gracious universality of Jesus’ message in opposition to the harsh dictates of the “just god”. MANY MODERN DAY MARCONITES WILL NOT DISCOUNT THE OT GOD OR MARRIAGE IN TOTALITY, HOWEVER, THEY BELIEVE WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT JESUS CAME TO CORRECT MANY THINGS THAT ARE TRUTH IN THE OT. DID U HEAR THAT? THEY TRULY BELIEVE JESUS CHANGED HIS HOLY LAW. BLASPHEMOUS! THEY BELIEVE IN THE DAMNABLE FALSE DOCTRINES OF:
1) PACIFISM
2) ONE CAN’T REMARRY IF THEIR 1ST SPOUSE (FORMER) IS STILL ALIVE
3) NO OATHS AT ALL – EVEN RIGHTEOUS ONES, ETC.
Jesus gave Moses those words, how dare anyone call Jesus a liar. His righteous and holy moral law stands from the beginning and HE never changes:
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
1st, nothing ever happens without 1st having a thought. We can clearly see that this entire universe was made by God 1st speaking it:
Gen 1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
It was never lawful to put someone away if the believers heart was hard, but if the offender’s heart is hard, it’s absolutely lawful to divorce in the OT & the NEW. You can’t get divorced for unrighteous reasons, however, there are narrow provisions for a morally biblical divorce.
ALL SCRIPTURE:
2Ti 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
Jesus expounds on the law of OT:
Mat 7:12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. “
How wrong you truly are and will pay eternally for it, lest you repent.
No “lust with your eyes in the OT”?? WRONG.
Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think (LUST) upon a maid? “
Pro 6:23-29 “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: 24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. 25 LUST NOT AFTER HER BEAUTY IN THINE HEART; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.”
SO, IT’S VERY CLEAR. THE OLD TESTAMENT IS NOTHING “NEW”
Mat 5:28-29 “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”
Psalms is a meditation of the Law of God which never changes (you can prove this by the opening verses of the Psalms).
No “murder in the heart” in the OT? WRONG. GOT HATES A WICKED HEART IN THE OT & THE NEW
Pro 6:16-19 “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An HEART THAT DEVISETH WICKED IMAGINATIONS, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
Lev 19:17 “Thou shalt not HATE THY BROTHER IN THY HEART: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.”
THE TRUTH IN THIS VERSE ABOVE IS REPEATED MANY TIMES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT… An example is:
1st John 2:9-11 “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother (DOES NOT REPROVE HIM), is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother (CALLS HIM OUT OF SIN) abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”
Pro 26:23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. 24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; 25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. 26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.
Pro 26:27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
Pro 26:28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
Deu 6:5 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with ALL THINE HEART, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
They were warned in OT to check their HEARTS. Moses knew:
Deu 4:41-42 “Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising; 42 That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and HATED HIM not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:”
Numbers 35:20-24 “But if he thrust him of HATRED (A SIN FROM THE HEART), or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die; 21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him. 22 But if he thrust him suddenly WITHOUT ENMITY, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait, 23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, NEITHER SOUGHT HIS HARM (PREMEDITATED THE MURDER IN THE HEART): 24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:”
Deu 19:11-12 “But if any man hate his neighbour (FROM THE HEART), and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: 12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.”
I am going to finish this study combining both truths in one verse. The truth that is was a sin to lust in the heart AND have murder in the heart in the OT. God never changes.
Pro 4:23-27 “Keep thy HEART with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 PUT AWAY from thee a FROWARD MOUTH (OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART, THE MOUTH SPEAKETH – MATT 12:34), and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine EYES LOOK RIGHT ON (WANDERING EYES LEAD TO EVIL), and let thine eyelids LOOK STRAIGHT (PURE) before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy FEET, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
