Matthew 19:16-17 “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Speaking to the rich young man)
“Why callest thou me good” – Whom they supposed to be only a man.
There is none good” – Supremely, originally, essentially, but God. Why do you give to me a title that belongs only to God? You suppose me to be only a man, yet you give me an appellation that belongs only to God. Jesus is saying here: Why dost thou question me concerning that good thing? There is one that is good. (Or he who is good is one)..
Romans 3:12 “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Even the good works of an unrighteous man are as “filthy rags”… Teaching below.
